The hedonic principle says that we are motivated to approach pleasure and avoid pain. This, as per Higgins is too simplistic a formulation. He supplants this with his concepts of regulatory focus, regulatory anticipation and regulatory reference. That is too much of jargon for a single post, but let us see if we can make sense. First, let us conceptualize a desired end-state that an organism wants to be in- say eating food and satisfying hunger.

Pleasure Spankings and Erotic Pain Posted by MasterMarc on July 26, by Author Unknown Erotic pain is something that is very difficult to explain unless there is something inside of you that draws you toward it. Many subs crave it, it settles them down. I have noticed many connections between subspace and hypnosis, and you may find that she becomes very open to your suggestions. The following quote illustrates this very well: When you are in pain…. I have a very busy mind….

University of Michigan Abstract This chapter explores dissociation of components within elemental emotion, the relations between components, and their embodiment in brain systems. The core processes of emotion and motivation are essentially unconscious and not directly represented in subjective emotional feelings. Core processes of emotions that underlie subjective experience can be further separated from subjective emotional feelings and occur without conscious awareness under limited conditions. For positive emotional states, core processes of "liking" and "wanting" are psychologically dissociable from each other. Core processes of "liking" and "wanting" are mediated by different neural systems in the brain.
July 5, The brain regions for pleasure are difficult to pinpoint, partly, because of many different ways we can trigger enjoyment. Pleasure can result from tasty food, a movie, school and athletic accomplishments, drugs, and noble efforts to help the community, the country and the world. A previous pos t noted that research points to the fact that the later type of satisfaction in helping the community has the strongest positive effects on our immune system, but these pathways are not known. While it is by no means clear how the higher forms of satisfaction and pleasure are related to an ice cream cone, recent research using both humans and detailed invasive brain analysis of animals has discovered some important ways that the brain processes pleasure.
